Boxscore: Game 85

The Rangers and Angels are tied for first and the Mariners are only 2.5 games back.

There is still hope but I’ve said it before and it bears repeating, I just don’t expect the Mariners to be there in the end. There are no more reinforcements that can be called up. There is no epic trade that can really be made at this time.

I’m not saying it’s impossible and I’m probably one of the few people that thinks this offense can be better than it has been but … *sigh* there are just too many hurdles and our competitors have all the advantages.

That said there certainly is some hope for the future and I think this team is playing closer to it’s actual talent level opposed to just being lucky in 2009. I say that because I don’t expect the Mariners to take a step back next year. It may not be as successful as this year but the point being the Mariners are taking steps towards being competitive every year.

I agree this crew is capable of playing better, the question is will they? I just don’t get how so many players have lost the ability to hit for so long. It’s a little bizarre. It’s a good thing Z was bald before he started his gig because if he wasn’t he would be now. I still like what he’s doing in general, they are pointed in the right direction. I’ll be happy if this crew ends up about .500.
