A's Attempting to Trade for Figgins?

Joe Stiglich of the Contra Coast Times is reporting that the A’s are attempting to trade for Mariners third baseman Chone Figgins. Ken Rosenthal confirmed the interest just minutes ago on Twitter.

There has been no formal mention of what the M’s return would be if a deal were to occur, but if I’m Jack Zduriencik, I’m pulling the trigger on that deal as long as I save most of the money owed to Figgins. I’m actually one of the few people who likes Figgins the player–he just doesn’t fit a rebuilding organization, and if you get a chance to move him, you have to do it.

We’ll have more as the story develops.

Update, 8:52 am: It appears that the speculated potential return could include 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff and perhaps a pitcher as well.

Updates, 11:30 am: Larry Stone passes along that a possible hold up could be that Figgins has a partial no-trade cause, and Oakland is one of those teams. He has not been asked to waive it yet.
