Nothing to Say

If you’re a regular reader, you’ve probably noticed that I haven’t been writing much lately. It’s not that I don’t love the Mariners anymore, or that I’ve lost interest in blogging, or even that I’ve completely given up hope. None of those things are accurate. It’s more of a temporary lack of motivation. I truly believe that the Mariners still have a chance to, at the very least, have a somewhat entertaining season. As far-fetched as it may seem right now, I know it isn’t going to stay this bad, and unrealistic or not, I still have just a little piece of hope that the Mariners will be able to get back into contention.

I really do still care, it’s just that right now, there isn’t anything to say about this team. They’re losing a lot, and they’re losing the same way, over and over. A month ago, the one or two run “pitchers duel” losses would at least hold my attention, but after sitting through so many of them in such a small amount of time, I no longer have the will to analyze them. That’s why over the last couple of weeks almost everything posted here has been team news or minor league related. There isn’t anything else new to tell you about – I mean really, you all know what’s happening. The offense is unlucky but still bad, the on-field management is lacking, and the team is dealing with a few key injuries.

Believe me, I would love for something worth talking about to happen. It kills me, sitting here, wanting to write about the team that I love but having no worthwhile topics in mind. But that’s just how it is right now, and that isn’t going to change until this team starts winning – or at least starts losing in a more interesting fashion. It’ll happen, though. This team just has too much talent to be this boring all year. Something’s gotta give. But until it does, since this isn’t really a game recap, game thread, or series preview kinda blog, interesting topics may continue to be few and far between. And for that I apologize.
