Edit: Rather than writing a post with the game’s results, you guys can just go read Geoff Baker’s recap. Home won 5-2.
Nothing else to write about, so I thought I’d mention that the Mariners are playing their first (and only?) intraqsuad game of the Spring today at noon. This isn’t exactly a big happening, but it is a little bit exciting, as it’s the first actual baseball game of the season. It mainly serves as a warmup for the real Spring Training games (the Mariners first one is Wednesday against the Giants). Anyway, the lineups, via Geoff Baker, look like this:
HOME
RF Ichiro
2B Chone Figgins
LF Milton Bradley
DH Ken Griffey Jr.
3B Jose Lopez
1B Casey Kotchman
CF Eric Byrnes
SS Jack Wilson
C Josh BardRHP Ian Snell
VISITORSLF Michael Saunders
CF Ryan Langerhans
1B Ryan Garko
DH Mike Sweeney
SS Jack Hannahan
RF Michael Wilson
2B Matt Tuiasosopo
C Adam Moore
3B Josh WilsonLHP Jason Vargas
For the most part, it appears to be veterans – generally players with guaranteed spots on the team, against the mostly young, much more fringy guys. In case you’re wondering why the sexiest player on the team is missing, Guti is apparently resting a sore arm – nothing to worry about. Interested to see how Adam Moore and Michael Saunders do. Other than that, don’t really care. The smart money’s definitely on the home team, though.
