Oh Jesus! Felix Signs?!?!

I am soooo stoked!!!!!!!! With the current lineup and the 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation it is going to be such a fun year, I've been out of work and only have part-time right now but I have got to figure out a way to get to some Mariner's games this season!

Now just for the fun of it let's do a quick 'what if...' What if Milton Bradely lives up to his potential? What if the Mariners sign a healthy Ben Sheets and he stays healthy all season? What if they where able to pickup Adrian Gonzales either now of at the trade deadline as we have heard rumors about? I am already stoked but if any of the above things happened...

Triunfel's defensive skillset just fits third base much better than short, and that's probably where he'll end up.

Do you see Triunfel becoming a SS or with his leg will he be limited? Sorry if im asking a lot were i am you dont hear about mariners unless its big

Our best two legitimate shortstop prospects are Gabriel Noriega and Nick Franklin, and they're both several years away from the bigs. Should be interesting to see what happens in the draft.

Of course a couple more years in AAA is overkill i meant a couple more years until he is fully developed. I am hoping Kotchman pans out from what ive seen he seems to have potential just how much of it no one knows. SP always seems to be needed by any team..unless your the Yankees or Red Sox...Do you think the Ms will try to develop a prospect for that future SS spot? They seem to have given themselve enough time to do just that

I think "a couple more years" in the minors for Saunders would definitely be overkill. I could see him spending the first part of this year down in Tacoma, and then the rest of the year splitting time in left field with whoever the hell ends up playing left field. I don't think anything beyond that is necessary, he's basically ML ready.

As for other needs, it isn't just back-end starters. When you look at our rotation beyond 2010, it's probably going to be Felix, RRS, and 3 question marks (provided we don't acquire another starter this off season). Lee probably won't sign with the Mariners, which means starting pitching will probably be the biggest need heading into 2011. With first base, I guess we'll just need to see how Kotchman pans out. And the only other spot I can really see is shortstop - we've got Wilson through 2011, but after that there's no way of knowing. This team is a hell of a lot more complete than it was 2 months ago, but there are still going to be some question mark's going forward.

I like Saunders and unlike most others I do not feel that we need a huge power hitter to be very succesful. What i do think and it might just be me but I think Saunders would develop best if aloud to play a utility/AAA role for a couple more years. I would prefer not to sign werth and possibly look for a Second Baseman only if Ackley does not work out or it looks like he will not develop quickly. Other then possibly 1B and late rotation SP what posistions do you need to see that are a need?

Unless either Michael Saunders or Franklin Gutierrez get traded, signing another outfielder really isn't going to make any sense. We have Saunders through 2015, Guti through 2013, and Ichiro through 2012. As of right now, there just isn't any room. Werth is a good defensive outfielder, and while DH'ing him could be a possibility, it would be a severe waste of his talent. As for Gutierrez moving over to left - he's the best defensive outfielder in baseball, and there's literally no player that could come in and move him to left. That's probably irrelevant though, as there's no reason to think Werth couldn't play a solid left field if he can play an excellent right and an average center.

However, that probably won't matter either, as there's no way we sign Werth unless one of our current outfielders gets moved.

Id hope so i think he would be a great guy in negotiations. Any thought about the possibility of adding Werth if he does not resign? I no he's listed as a CF or RF but can he play LF or can Gutierrez slide over? He does bat right which tends to be a problem in Safeco

Or just make him a coach. Seems pretty much inevitable.

I was debating wether to add Saunders and Moore to that list since they technically havent made it "big" yet. And with Ackley coming up provides another high end player. I think the next move is to ink Griffey to a front office role since he seems to be friends with everyone everywere.

That's one of my favorite parts about all of this as well. We have Felix, Guti, Ichiro, Michael Saunders, Figgins, and Adam Moore all locked up for through at least 2012. That's a hell of a core to build off of.

The more you think about this deal the better it gets. For one you get arguably the best young pitcher in the Majors and two with his signing the signing of Chone Figgins and Gutierrez and the control Ichiro you have a solid base that will be around to build off of for a long while. And with the acquisition of Milton Bradley you have a player who will easily help tide you over until next years free agency in which yu have outfielders like Jayson Werth possibly on the market. This is not mentioning Cliff Lee. So while the mariners may only have a shot at winning their division this year they are keeping their top players for the long run which gives them time to improve and not have to worry about certain positions.
