Admittedly, I probably should have said this in the body of the post. But hey, it's an exercise in implications!

Oh I wasn't saying that with regards to the post.. more of an aside. I definitely get what you're trying to say. Me, a few days ago:

Answer: that’s exactly what he is. And it seems like a reasonable reaction at first, but really, if you have two identical hitters, one led baseball in 1B UZR last season and the other is a poor defender, who would you prefer? "

Jon, the point of this post was that though the two are very similar offensively, Kotchman's defense adds a significant amount of value to the M's. I would have thought you would get this.

Agree with Jon on the fan projections. .370 OBP, .800 OPS? Maybe at some point in his career, but not in 2010. Also, you know, ~10-15 run difference in defense.

Also, the Fans projections for Carp are a little ridiculous.
