Blip On The Radar

Posted by: Harrison Crow

Everyone is always excited about the big news that sometimes little moves like this get missed. Today the Mariners signed David Pauley to a Minor League deal.

Nothing huge or ground breaking. Pauley has been a starting pitcher for the majority of his time in both the minors and majors. Which leads to the observation that it’s more spaghetti for the wall.

Here is a scouting report at soxprospects.com, baseball cube and a piece from the Baltimore Sun when he was acquired from Boston last off-season.

Interesting low key move, live arm, kind of move Jack Zduriencik liked to make last off-season. Shouldn’t amount to much, but you never know.

            BallHype: hype it up!

The Mariners are too much like the Seastinkers. They have old, hurt, and talentless players. Lopez,Branyan,Beltre-no major league team wants them, so the Ms keep them again. I’m looking for a lastplace, way behind the Angels summer. Jr can barely walk to the bank with his check, Lee will bolt, and Seattlle fans can expect some losing baseball. Oh we’ll hear about some great minor leaguers, the great Wak, the amazing Z, and a stupid moose. No playoffs.

    Thanks for your input Pete!

Haha, I wonder if he knows that we don’t currently have Beltre or Branyan.

I figure the mighty Ms will resign Branyan(cheap) and Beltre(good glove). Z loves the low talent, multiposition players. We need some actual ballplayers; the Pattersons, Pauleys, and Bards are nice fillins for a losing club. Bard, from the Nats; the NL Mariners. Another summer of Ichiro hype, and M losing. We’ll be tail enders by mid-May.

All of those guys are on minor league deals. They are just being given a chance to show us something during spring training. I’m pretty sure that Z doesn’t believe that these guys will save our team. He isn’t finished either. I believe that our first basemen will come via a trade. There are too many injury prone free agent first basemen out there right now, and beyond that there is Adam Laroche. He is delusional if he believes that he will be getting the 3-5 years at 7+ million a year deal that he desires. We will be fine. The sky isn’t falling quite yet, although I believed it was before the off season had even begun. Let Jack Z finish with all of his acquisitions and then criticize him and the Mariners if you must.

Just a head’s up, Pete. As it stands right now, talent wise, the Mariners are the best team in the AL West. You’re acting like Bard, Patterson, and Pauley are the only acquisitions we’ve made this off season (we also signed Chone Figgins, traded for Cliff Lee, and traded for Milton Bradley).

You need to learn how to better evaluate teams.
