Beltre Is Offered Arbitration, Bedard Isn’t

No surprise here – this was the right call. It just wouldn’t have been worth risking the possibility of Bedard accepting, and it would have been a pretty significant risk. Bedard probably would have gotten a better deal out of accepting arbitration than what he’s going to get anywhere else. Now, let’s cross our fingers and pray that by some miracle Beltre accepts. However, if he doesn’t, and signs with another team as a free agent, we’ll be getting a compensatory draft pick next year.
