I just tweeted this earlier but I think you guys should take a look Lyle Overbay vs. Mike Carp the difference ... .25 ISO POINTS. Alot of people say Overbay is much better with the glove but I seem to think that Carp isn't as bad as previously thought of at first. Maybe i'm wrong. Small sampsize is in effect.

Lyle Overbay = Mike Carp … with half the ISO

One thing to remember Chad is alot of the pitchers we are looking at are vetern. Ben Sheets, John Lackey, “Doug Davis”, Rich Harden. Are all considered “Veteran” Pitchers…

There is no reason to think that we can not win now. Jack is putting together the best group of guys within his disposal and they will give us a great chance to win.

It’s all we could ask for…

So, yeah. It’s impossible for me to evaluate Z on this because I don’t know how much of it was his decision and how much came from Armstrong/the marketing people. It’s a bad baseball decision and it likely costs someone like Langerhans his job. It shows that the M’s haven’t completely shifted away from their old, failed methods of player evaluation.

However, it’s not a team-killer. The M’s can still improve. It’s just a little harder now. Go Z.

You guys should check out this foxsports.com buzz thing, because it’s kind of shocking. It sounds as if Z plans on doing the exact opposite of what everyone thought he would do. A couple of things said that a reporter who came away after talking to GM Jack Z believing that he was going to try to add a bunch of veteran talent this winter because he wants to win now….WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!!
