you are right 3/4 are under contract but in reality they can be had for cheap.

No way Kapler starts this year with the youngsters that the Rays have and with getting everyone back and healthy, he becomes expendable as a fourth outfielder.

Hart is in the dog house, Byrd is a free-agent and with an over crowded texas outfield her maybe the cheapest and easist option. Although with Baldelli's health I can't see Boston being too attachted.

Good call on Cody Ross! I wonder how avilable he would be from Florida ... maybe we can also pry away a certain pitcher ...

I've also seen the M's might have interest in Hermida given that the Marlins are surely looking to trade him. I dont see the point of trading for him instead of letting Saunders play and develop into a guy that can be just as good if not better and cheaper than Hermida. Kapler resigned with the Rays, Hart is still under contract but a guy JackZ is familiar with and could possibly acquire. Byrd might not be a bad option. A guy I like, who is actually another Marlin, is Cody Ross. There outfield is loaded and if they cant get rid of Hermida and/or another guy then Ross could be available. The guy can hit...

Personally I see the similarities but I see Saunders as a better player than Hermida... and even though Hermida has a solid set of tools I can think of about 2 or 3 other players I'd rather see the Mariners make a move for, if they felt a platoon partner was needed.

Such as,

Gabe Kapler
http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1256&position=OF

Marlon Byrd
http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=950&position=OF

Corey Hart
http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1945&position=OF

Rocco Baldelli (i'm not sure where his whole health thing is right now but if he can be healthy for 50-70 games i think it has the potential to be a solid signing)

They are all vetern players with an ability to get on base and play atleast average defense.

They also are all pretty cheap to acquire and should they really be useful they can be flipped for something of greater value.
