I’ve been at school all day, so I never really got the chance to go into detail about the Kenji Johjima news, but I don’t think I could have said it better than Graham over at Lookout Landing anyway. So, if you’d like a reminder of how lucky we were to have Kenji Johjima, I strongly recommend reading this.

Do you think that Victor Martinez would be a possibility? Or do you think that the Mariners are not interested in a player who is going to want that kind of money, especially since they have other areas in which they need to upgrade desperately. There are obvious reasons for why it would work with the Mariners, switch hitter and plays solid defense.
I really don’t see any reason why we’d spend that much of our free agent money on a catcher, when we have Adam Moore. If Moore isn’t ready to start by the beginning of 2010, someone like Greg Zaun is much more likely as a stop gap.
I know I ask you alot of questions man, and I will stop it’s bothering you haha. I was wondering though, the Mariners said they would like to add a solid number 2 pitcher to there rotation. In your opinion, when they say “solid”, do they mean a guy who can eat up innings and average a high 3 or 4 ERA such as another ryan rowland-smith or a guy like Bedard, who has lights out stuff when healthy of course.
Ryan Rowland-Smith is not a #2. He can be a good #3, but we need someone more like Bedard if we want a real #2. Someone like Rich Harden, Ben Sheets, or maybe even John Lackey are the only FA options that come to mind. I don’t mind the questions.
can you hear bengie molina somewhere off in the distance adam moores should develop in the minors felix and rob could go
I like Bengie Molina, but the absolute longest we’d sign him to would be something like a 1 year, $5-6 million deal, and I don’t really see that happening. Especially with him getting up there in terms of age.
I for one would not be surprised at all if Adam Moore was ready to start 2010 with the big league club in some capacity – whether it be a starting or backup role. I fear that Rob Johnson isn’t going anywhere any time soon, but there are a lot of questions surrounding him right now in terms of injuries.
As for Felix, the last thing we want is for him to leave – best case scenario is definitely us re-signing him.
Chad, I for one hope you don’t ever stop bugging us. I hope you enjoy reading some of this stuff as much as we enjoy reading and writting it.
There was an interesting Article out in the NY Times about avilable #2 starters for the Mets and I must say there are some good avilable pitchers out there for the right price.
While there are some FA options, we don’t have to go after obvious choices there are plenty of undervalued starters in the league that could come “relatively” cheap.
The Mariners won’t be signing a catcher. Moore and Johnson are cheap, and one of them is actually a good baseball player.
I agree with the Greg Zaun assesment… he may not be who the Mariners sign but his situation with the Orioles last year is exactly what we are looking at … they brought him in specifically to be a short stop gap for between then and when Matt Wieters was ready, and then discarded him to the Rays as soon as he out lived his purpose. Thats what I envision the Mariners doing for Adam Moore.
