About a week ago, when Bill Hall got DFA’d by the Brewers, I wrote a post explaining why he would fit in Seattle. Well, he’s a Mariner. We sent minor leaguer Ruben Flores to Milwaukee for him, and the Brewers are picking up nearly all of Hall’s salary. Flores is an A ball relief pitcher who can strike a lot of guys out, but doesn’t do much else. Not a big loss.
As for Hall, I would expect him to platoon with Jack Hannahan as a utility player for at least the rest of 2009, and then they’ll probably see what they can do with him in the off season. He’s put up really bad numbers this year, but he should still be in his prime, and he used to be a solid power hitter. Hopefully they can at least partially get him back to form. Thanks Jack.
